The state moved 15 juvenile offenders from Angola to a new juvenile justice facility in Jackson Parish. Attorney David Utter filed the lawsuit to get them moved saying juveniles were placed in solitary confinement and not being rehabilitated.t.
Utter says they’ll wait to see how the youths are treated before deciding whether they’ll continue with the suit.
Wildlife officials are encouraged by successful hatchings of the endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtle on the Chandeleur Islands, off the southeastern coast of Louisiana. The body of a missing Vermillion Parish woman has been found and her boyfriend has been arrested. 34 year old David Smith, originally from New Iberia, has been charged with hit and run. An autopsy will determine how 49 year old Bobbie Jo Saltzman died and more charges against Smith are possible.
