East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore is filing an injunction today to stop the upcoming clemency hearings for death row inmates in Louisiana. 56 inmates are seeking to have their sentences reduced to life in prison, the first group of hearings is scheduled for next month.

Louisiana State University of Alexandria has exceeded its goal of enrolling five thousand undergraduate students by 2025, securing its status as the fastest-growing public university in the state. Chancellor Paul Coreil says students transferring to LSUA from other institutions increased by 49 percent last year.

Damage from the wildfires this year is devasting to timber landowners in west-central Louisiana. In addition to the economic losses, Forester Robbie Hutchins with the LSU AgCenter says the impacts will be felt across the state because forests also provide clean air, clean water, and wildlife habitats.

There are no federal programs to help timber landowners recoup their losses.
