It wasn’t a pretty game, but the Saints got the job done yesterday beating the Tennessee Titans 16-15 in Sunday’s season opener. New Orleans offense was kept out of the end zone in the first half, but Derek Carr connected with Rashid Shaeed on a 19-yard touchdown pass to give the Saints the lead 16-9. Carr threw for 305 yards…

The Saints defense played well as they intercepted Ryan Tannehill three times and sacked him three times. Marshon Lattimore had four pass breakups. Blake Grupe made three field goals.

New Orleans next game is a week from tonight at Carolina. The Panthers opened the season with a 24-10 loss to Atlanta. Also in the NFC South, Tampa Bay upset Minnesota 20-17.

LSU’s offense nearly had a perfect performance on Saturday night in a 72-10 win over Grambling State. It’s the first time they scored 70 in regulation time of a game since a 70-14 win over Arkansas State in 1991. Coach Brian Kelly is pleased with what he saw on offense.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels threw for a career-high five touchdown passes. But the defense struggled early on. Grambling had 173 yards of offense in its first two possessions and scored ten points. Kelly says the tackling needs to improve.

The Ragin Cajuns lost their season opener to Old Dominion 38-31. ULM is 2-0 after beating Lamar 24-14. Louisiana Tech trounced Northwestern State 51-21. Big night for Keith Willis Junior as he rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldogs averaged nearly 10 yards a carry.
