A Shreveport Police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty last night. A police department spokesperson says the officer was responding to a call about a prowler suspect when someone opened fire. The officer was hit several time. He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities believe they know the identity of the suspect and are searching for the gunman.

Governor Bobby Jindal is preparing to participate in today’s debate involving the second tier Republican Presidential candidates. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says Jindal can’t compete with the front-runners right now so he is spending a lot of time in Iowa. He says using Jindal’s money there is his best approach to raise his numbers to get into future big debates…

Jindal did not poll well enough to get invited to the prime time debate featuring the major candidates on Fox News.

US Senator David Vitter is the only major gubernatorial candidate who will not attend today’s Louisiana AARP governor’s forum in Baton Rouge. Political analyst Clancy Dubos says Vitter is missing a great opportunity because this forum is aimed at senior citizens, who are the most chronic voters in the country. He says although Vitter is in the lead, that doesn’t mean he’ll stay the front-runner…

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says a 23-year-old man was arrested after driving through two fences and on to the runway at Louis Armstrong Airport in New Orleans. Colonel John Fortunato says luckily there were no planes on the tarmac during the incident. He says Kaleb Clement from Paulina ran after seeing airport personnel coming toward him…
