LEAP scores have improved for a second year in a row for Louisiana students. Scores are up two points from 2022 which equates to 33-percent of students are performing at the mastery rate or higher. In Franklin Parish, 8-year-old Alli Glass is being regaled as a hero, after saving her grandfather’s life when he was pinned beneath a four-wheeler in a canal. She knew to prop his head up to keep him from going under and ran for over half a mile barefoot to get help in the dark. Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb the 83-year-old is extremely thankful and proud of Alli’s bravery.
It’s another scorcher in the Bayou State. State Climatologist Barry Keim says a dome of high pressure continues to plague the southeast and it’s keeping moisture from the Gulf from cycling through and bringing showers to cool things off. He says it’s a rut and the only thing it’s going to do is push hot air down towards us.
