Legislation that will increase benefits for veterans has been unanimously approved by the US House. Republican Congressman Ralph Abraham of Richland Parish authored the measure and it’s his first bill that’s been approved by the house. Sheriff’s deputies charged an East Feliviana Parish man with a hate crime after investigators said he pulled down the pants of a 12-year-old child and called him a racial slur in public. 54-year-old Ronnie Barnes was originally charged with misdemeanor simple battery but was later charged with misdemeanor hate crime after the incident as seen on video.
