The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Clinton man accused of making racial slurs and pulling the pants of a 12-year-old black child at a gas station. 54-year-old Ronnie Barnes was initially served with a simple batter citation, but after surveillance footage of the indent was obtained, the man was charged with a misdemeanor level hate crime.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Deville mother accused of filing a false kidnapping report. Lt. Tommy Carnline says 24-year-old Ashley Ballard reported the incident happened as she was walking down the road with her four children…:

He says deputies never did find any vehicles which matched that description and Ballard also gave inconsistent statements. She was booked on a count of filing a false police report.

There was a recent dog fatality in Franklin Parish which appears to be heat related and the Humane Society of Louisiana has issued a statewide advisory for pets in this scorching hot weather. Director Jeff Dorson reminds dog and cat owners to please be responsible when it comes to your pet especially if they have to be outside this summer…:
