After eliminating Tennessee last night, The LSU Tigers get another shot at Wake Forest tonight and will need to beat the Demon Deacons twice to advance to the championship round of the College World Series. Blake Money or Javen Coleman are possible starters for LSU tonight. Wake Forest may counter with Seth Keener, who is 8-1 with a 2.18 ERA. He pitched in relief on Saturday and struck out four of the five hitters he faced. In his last start on June 2nd, Keener struck out 13 over seven shutout innings and allowed just three hits against George Mason. First pitch tonight is at 6 PM.
There have been some legendary performances by LSU players in the College World Series and Nate Ackenhausen’s performance last night will be one that will not be forgotten. It’s only the second time LSU has thrown a shutout in the College World Series. 1993 was the other time when Brett Laxton struck out a championship game record 16 hitters in a win over Wichita State.
LSU women’s basketball will begin its national title defense next season in Las Vegas as they will tip off the 2023-24 campaign by taking on Colorado as part of a quadruple-header in T-Mobile Arena.
