LSU’s win over Tennessee on Saturday night sets up a sensational matchup tonight at 6 PM in the College World Series as the Bayou Bengals face the top-seeded Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Wake Forest has the nation’s best team ERA at 2.82, while LSU leads the country in runs scored at 594. Coach Jay Johnson credits his veteran hitters, who will need to be good tonight…

Wake Forest is expected to start Josh Hartle against the Tigers tonight. He’s a six-foot-five left-hander who is 11 and 2 with a 2,80 ERA. In his last start against Alabama in the Super Regionals, he allowed four runs in six innings, including three home runs.

LSU baseball has landed a left-handed pitcher out of the transfer portal. His name is Justin Loer and the Minnesota native had an ERA of 1.89 at Xavier this season. He helped the Muskateers reach the NCAA Nashsville Regional.

Former Southeastern Louisiana coach Matt Riser has found a new job. Riser is the new head coach at Memphis. Riser had a great ten-year run in Hammond, guiding the Lions to four NCAA Tournament berths and three Southland Conference titles. He was let go in May after S-L-U failed to make the Southland Tournament.

Junior college tight end Connor Gilbreath has committed to LSU. He’s six-foot-five, 265 pounds and Gilbreath told ON3 sports that he expects offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock will use him as a blocking tight end.

Big trade in the NBA…Bradley Beal is headed from Washington to Phoenix to team up with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. Chris Paul goes to the Wizards.
