The city council in Hammond refuses to allow establishments that only severe alcohol to open on Sundays. During a meeting last night, the vote was 3-2 against changing the longtime law. Several people attended to speak in favor of the measure including Todd Delaune, owner of Red, White and Brew on Hammond’s main street…:

There was a woman who spoke to oppose the proposal saying it would hurt Hammond’s family city image to serve alcohol on Sundays.

Shreveport cops say the man who brought a handgun concealed in a deflated basketball to a military recruiting station claims he had no intention of hurting anyone. Apparently 48-year-old David Quinn said he was upset over the shooting at a Tennessee military facility and brought the gun in an attempt to be helpful and arm personnel working at the center for protection. Quinn faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office says a Harvey woman is under arrest for allegedly shooting her three children with a BB gun and choking them for punishment. Col John Fortunato says they investigated 34-year-old Tomeka Stair…:

The Louisiana National Guard says they are still putting a policy together so they can follow Governor Bobby Jindal’s executive order allowing guardsmen to be armed at military facilities. Colonel Pete Schneider says Louisiana’s major national guard bases have full-time force protection personnel, but their armories and recruiting offices do not have this type of security…
