The Baton Rouge Fire Department arrests a woman accused of setting her ex-boyfriend’s belongings on fire in front of his new woman’s apartment door. Witnesses at the complex reported seeing Courtney Pittman start the blaze of a garbage bag filled with men’s clothing and personal items using hairspray and a lighter. She is charged with simple arson.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is once again working to reestablish a species and this time it’s the juvenile Alligator Snapping Turtle. They’ve recently released some back into the wild in the Calcasieu River Basin. LDWF Natural Heritage Program Manager, Amity Bass, says they’ve already freed 8 and have 50 scheduled for release this fall…:

LDWF’s head start program raises these turtles in captivity until they are 3-years-old before they are released, giving the animals a better chance of survival.
Gas prices are down in Louisiana four cents from this time last week. The current statewide average for a gallon of regular is $2.49.
