The Center for World University Rankings has named five Louisiana universities among their top 1,000 universities in the world. Tulane was the highest ranked state school on the list coming in at number 272. LSU, LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, UNO, and Louisiana Tech also made the list. The ranking is based on categories such as quality of education, training of students, and faculty prestige.

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu travels to the Vatican with other political leaders to meet with Pope Francis to discuss global issues, like climate change, human trafficking, and sustainable development.
