US Senator David Vitter announces he’s raised $1.3 million in the second quarter and now has more than $5 million in cash on hand for his gubernatorial campaign. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says the fact that Vitter is a sitting US Senator is clearly working in his favor…:

Egg prices at the store are getting even higher. State Agriculture Commissioner and Chair of the Louisiana Egg Commission Mike Strain says the big increase is because of avian flu. He says egg prices have gone up 90 percent since May…:

Strain says egg prices will remain high until farmers can properly sterilize their facilities to reintroduce hens.

State Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle responsible for hitting a teenager on the side of the road in Albany. The 14-year-old was last reported to be in critical condition. Trooper Bryan Lee says the suspect vehicle was trying to pass another one when it struck the teen in Livingston Parish…:

Lee says the crash remains under investigation and are they asking the public for assistance in locating the pickup truck.

The Shreveport Police Department says a 10-year-old boy who is believed to have accidentally shot himself last week has died. They say the child was struck in the head by a bullet after gaining access to the gun in the home on July 17th and succumbed to injuries over the weekend. Cops say the investigation into the child’s death is ongoing.
