Sad news to report as a former LSU basketball star Wayne Sims has passed away. Former Tiger great Rudy Macklin broke the news earlier today on Talk Louisiana with Jim Engster…

Macklin says Sims collapsed at work yesterday and died at the age of 54.

Sims played at LSU from 1987 to 1991 and averaged almost 10 points a game during his career. He was part of the 1991 SEC Championship team. The DeRidder native is the father of LSU basketball player Wayde Sims, who was killed in 2018 in a shooting near the Southern University campus.

In college baseball last night….LSU had 19 hits and Brayden Jobert and Jordan Thompson homered as the Tigers defeated Tulane 11 to 5. The Ragin Cajuns beat Louisiana Tech 10 to 5 and tonight U-L Lafayette is at Southeastern Louisiana. While Tech hosts ULM.

The Pelicans will try to survive and advance in the play-in tournament tonight as they host Oklahoma City at 8:30 PM. If New Orleans can win tonight, they will play the Timberwolves on Friday in Minnesota. The winner of that game will face top-seeded Denver in the first round of the playoffs.

Last night the 12th ranked LSU softball team lost to top ranked Oklahoma three to nothing in front of a sold out crowd at Tiger Park. LSU returns to SEC play on Friday as they visit Auburn.
