State Police say two are dead after an early morning crash on I-10 in Calcasieu Parish. They say a truck was traveling the roadway near Lacassine when the right rear tire deflated. The truck veered into the median where it rolled over. Two unrestrained passengers in the rear of the vehicle were ejected and received fatal injuries. The driver and another passenger were transported to area hospitals with moderate injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

A recent WalletHub study finds that Louisiana is the 10th least energy expensive state, but we use the more electricity than any other state in the nation. Spokeswoman Jill Gonzalez says it’s important to note that cheap electricity doesn’t mean we’re paying less…

Gonzalez says The Bayou State placed 4th in the country for the price of electricity, but 51st in total consumption per housing unit.

A study by the LSU AgCenter finds feral hogs caused at least 30 million dollars worth of damage to Louisiana farms in 2013. AgCenter economist Shaun Tanger says hog hunting is allowed year round, day and night, to help reduce the population but that’s not enough…

He says about 75 percent of feral hogs would need to be eliminated to keep up with the current population.
