The college baseball season is underway as the top ranked LSU Tigers opened the 2023 campaign this afternoon against Western Michigan. Coach Jay Johnson’s weekend starting rotation is Paul Skenes, left-hander Riley Cooper and freshman Chase Shores, who has a fastball in the upper-90s. In NFL news….Free agent quarterback Derek Carr will reportedly meet with the Jets this weekend. Carr previously visited with the Saints, before he was released by the Raiders. There’s speculation the Jets are also interested in Aaron Rodgers if he wants out of Green Bay.

After failing to get a double-double in Sunday’s loss at South Carolina, Angel Reese came back with a vengeance last night as she scored a career-high 36 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to lead LSU to a 69-60 win over Ole Miss. Reese played all 40 minutes…

Here’s a look at the men’s basketball schedule for Saturday, LSU has a chance to end its 13-game losing streak as they host South Carolina at noon. The Gamecocks are 9-and-17 overall, 2-and-11 in the SEC.

Northwestern State has won nine in a row and the Demons will host UNO on Saturday afternoon.

ULM tries to end a four-game losing streak at South Alabama. Louisiana Tech has lost three in a row and they host Charlotte. The Bulldogs leading scorer Cobe Williams has left the team.
