US Representative Ralph Abraham’s office says Fort Polk will lose 358 soldiers from its Vernon Parish military base as part of the US Army’s 40-thousand troop reduction plan. Abraham says Fort Polk shouldn’t lose a single soldier, because of the growing threat from ISIS. There are currently 81-hundred troops stationed at Fort Polk.

A former central Louisiana police chief has been arrested for the murder of his wife. Avoyelles Parish Sheriff Doug Anderson says they collected evidence to charge Charles Mayeaux Junior with second-degree murder and aggravated arson in the death of Shelly St. Romain Mayeaux, who was found inside her burned home on March 21st. Charles Mayeaux is a former police chief of Evergreen and Sheriff Anderson says he also faces malfeasance charges…

Mayeaux is being held on a 350-thousand dollar bond.

The FBI is looking for people in Louisiana and other states who were victims in a “sextortion” case. FBI New Orleans Special Agent Mike Anderson says 31-year-old Lucas Michael Chansler of Florida used social networking sites to convince teenage girls to perform sexual acts on camera….

Chansler is currently serving 105 years in federal prison, but there are still unidentified victims and they should contact the FBI.

The search continues for those indviduals who attacked a State Police Trooper on June 30th in Rapides Parish. The officer was hit with an unknown object in the head during the traffic stop and gunshots were exchanged between the Trooper and a passenger in the vehicle. LSP spokesperson Scott Moreau says they’ve released a composite sketch of the driver….
