Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champs for a second time in four years as K-C was outstanding in the second half in a 38-35 win in Super Bowl 57. Mahomes threw two TD passes in the fourth quarter and his 26 yard run set up the game winning field goal. Former Minden and La Tech star L’Jarius Sneed had seven tackles and two passes defensed for the Chiefs, while former Amite star DeVonta Smith had seven catches for 100 yards in a losing effort.
The third-ranked LSU Lady Tigers were overmatched in their highly anticipated game against top-ranked South Carolina yesterday. The Gamecocks jumped out to a 16-point lead early in the first quarter and LSU never could recover and lost 88-64. Coach Kim Mulkey says they got off to a rough start…

Pelicans All-Star forward Zion Williamson re-aggravated his hamstring injury and the team says he’ll miss multiple weeks after this weekend’s All-Star Break. Williamson first injured his hamstring on January 2nd. The Pels are 12-and-16 without him and one game over the five-hundred mark overall with 25 games to play. New Orleans is at Oklahoma City tonight.
It doesn’t look like the Saints will make a trade with the Raiders to acquire quarterback Derek Carr. The NFL Network says Carr will tell Las Vegas he will not waive his no-trade clause, which will force the Raiders to release him, making him a free agent. Carr spent a day in New Orleans last week meeting with Saints officials and if the Black and Gold want him, they will have to compete with other teams for his services.
LSU men’s basketball lost its 12th straight on Saturday as they fell behind by 29 points in the first half and lost to Texas A-and-M 74-62. The Ragin Cajuns, ULM and La Tech were also losers on Saturday. Nicholls, Northwestern State, McNeese, Grambling and Southern were winners.
