U.S. Senator David Vitter has sent a letter to President Obama requesting a federal disaster declaration as a result of heavy flooding along the Red River. That historic flooding caused $17 million of estimated damage. The individual parish requests are for Caddo, Bossier, Grant, Natchitoches, and Red River parishes.

The mother of a two year old child, who died after falling out of the window of a moving vehicle in Acadia Parish, was arrested this morning. State Police Trooper Brooks David says 32-year-old Amber Watson of Church Point was booked on charges of child desertion and no child restraint.
