Common Core gets another hearing today. This time a judge is set to determine whether or not Governor Bobby Jindal had the constitutional authority to suspend test contracts that are tied to the academic standards. Council for a Better Louisiana President Barry Erwin says the judge hearing today’s case has already denied a motion to dismiss parts of it filed by parents and teachers who support Common Core…:

Officials in St. Landry say a man his under arrest for animal cruelty after hundreds of birds and about 20 dogs were taken from his trailer near Lawtell under horrible conditions. They say 61-year-old Donald LaFleur’s business was selling birds, but he was keeping far too many in such a small space.

Police in New Orleans say a man was killed early this morning around 2am after being run over by at least 2 vehicles, including an 18-wheeler, on I-10. They aren’t identifying the victim at this time.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office says a mother and father were arrested Sunday afternoon after they found them passed out in a car with their children inside. They say the 41-year-old Michael Pierce and his wife 34-year-old Melanie Pierce of Denham Springs were unconscious as a result of over-dosing on heroin. Concerned citizens called cops after seeing the car at Bonnabel and Vets in Metairie. The children, aged four and 11 month were not hurt and are in the care of family.
