A Justice of the Peace in Grant Parish has resigned because her religion does not believe same-sex couples should be married. Patricia Gunter says she would no longer be able to perform the duties of her job because of the Supreme Court ruling which allows gay marriage…:

Gunter is the wife of a Baptist pastor and says she’s leaving to avoid problems or disagreements.

A search is underway for at least two suspects involved in an altercation with a State trooper in which one fired at the cop and injured him then fled the scene. The trooper returned fire. Troopers have updated the description of the vehicle they are looking for. It’s an ’80s Cheveolet Caprice, grey in color, red tape over the right tail light and a marijuana leaf hanging car freshener.

Star forward Anthony Davis has verbally agreed to accept the New Orleans Pelicans’ maximum extension deal that will reportedly pay him $145 million over five years. Jake Madison, with Bourbon Street Shots, says it appears new head coach Alvin Gentry and really sold Davis on his vision for the future, which includes making the All-Star the focal point of the team’s offense…:

The mother of pop singer Britney Spears, who is from Kentwood, is getting behind Amite State Representative Jon Bel Edwards for Governor. Lyn Spears has set up a contest on Edwards campaign website whereby a $50 donation will enter you into a drawing for a chance to win tickets to see Britney in Las Vegas and backstage passes.
