Today is the last day to early vote for the November eighth election. JMC Analytics Publisher John Couvillon says early voting has become more popular and there’s also been a spike in mail in ballots…

Couvillon is projecting a total voter turnout for this election at 47-percent.

Governor John Bel Edwards is traveling the state this week recognizing the accomplishments of his landmark criminal justice reform legislation. Critics of the legislation say it’s helped cause the recent spike in violent crime. But House Criminal Justice Chairman Joe Marino of Gretna says the reforms addressed how the state treats non-violent offenders…

Marino says one of the positives from the criminal justice reform legislation is the reduction of recidivism rate.

An Arnaudville man is accused of shooting his neighbor in the leg while trying to shoot the man’s dog. 42-year-old Justin Boudreaux was charged with negligent injuring and illegal use of a weapon. Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says the bullet missed the dog and ricocheted off concrete; hitting the neighbor, who will recover, but he’s upset at his neighbor….

Boudreaux says the dog is aggressive and had threatened his child, so he wasn’t tolerating it in his yard anymore.

Today is the NFL trade deadline and there have been trade rumors swirling around Saints running back Alvin Kamara, but he’s not sweating it…
