Southern Miss scored 20 points in the first quarter last night and the Ragin Cajuns could not recover and lost to the Golden Eagles 39-24 in Hattiesburg. The Cajuns got a great night from receiver Michael Jefferson, who had six catches for 179 yards. Quarterback Ben Wooldridge threw for a career-high 336 yards, but he was also intercepted three times.

District championships were won in high school football last night. Avoyelles won its first district title in school history with a 68-45 win over Rosepine. Iowa won a district title by beating St. Louis Catholic 29-21. Amite beat Sterlington 26-20 in a great football game, Also last night Acadiana over Carencro 21-20. And it was Airline over Parkway 41-20.
