The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office says a Tuesday night shooting in Breaux Bridge, that they describe as a domestic disturbance, has left three people dead and another critically injured. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered three people fatally shot: 58-year-old Clifford Blanchard, 72 year-old Leola Blanchard, and 3-year-old Ashlynn Blanchard. 32-year-old Scott Blanchard was transported to a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing, but authorities are not searching for any suspects.

Governor Jindal signs New Orleans Senator J.P. Morrell’s legislation into law that attempts to help law enforcement on college campuses investigate accusations of sexual assault. Morrell says this is the first instance in the country where a state has set up procedure for public colleges to follow when there’s a report of a sexual assault and how the victim can be helped…

He says this legislation will make sure every law enforcement official in the state knows how to handle a sexual assault case.

According to the consumer website Nerdwallet, Louisianians pay 18 percent of their annual salary for insurance, the highest percentage in the country. Researcher Jeffery Chu says even though these costs are high and hard to avoid, there are a lot of ways to save money on insurance…
