Lafayette Police say a 36-year-old man went on a killing spree throughout the parish yesterday, fatally shooting three people before taking his life. Authorities say Andres Jamal Felix fatally shot his estranged wife, 43-year-old Kawanna Felix and before that took the life of 25-year-old Paige Lewis, who he knew, and the murder spree started with 29-year-old Ross Chaisson. Detectives have not provided a motive.

Southwest Louisiana Congressman Clay Higgins has introduced a bill that he says will prevent insurance companies from failing after paying millions of dollars in claims following a storm. Higgins federal legislation would allow insurance providers to deduct their cost of settlement payouts following a federally declared disaster

Higgins is up for re-election. Republican challenger Holden Hoggatt says the legislation is just a big tax break for companies that refuse to pay claims.
