Governor John Bel Edwards is heading to London for an economic development mission. The governor’s spokesperson Shauna Sanford says Edwards will meet with executives of major energy firms and tomorrow he’ll meet with the world’s leading insurance underwriter, Lloyd’s of London to discuss the state’s serious insurance issues…

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell says she does not embrace the city’s title as the murder capital of the United Statese. A recent report said New Orleans has overtaken St. Louis as the murder capital of the country. Cantrell acknowledges New Orleans has experienced an increase in crime but says other major cities have too and says most murders occur under specific conditions.

Cantrell says mental health issues also play a role and says New Orleans needs more mental health treatment options.

Monroe Police say they are searching for a juvenile who fired several shots inside Pecanland Mall on Saturday night. Authorities say an argument between two juveniles escalated into a physical fight and as officers intervened, a person fired a weapon. Two people have been arrested for their role in the fight.
