A man on death row for the 1993 killing an off-duty Baton Rouge Police officer, has been barred from execution by the US Supreme Court, because of his mental disability. Kevan Brumfield was convicted in the shooting death of Cpl. Betty Smothers. Legal analyst Tim Meche says this case will head back to lower courts for hearings…

Governor Bobby Jindal has lost an appeal of his Common Core lawsuit, that would allow the suspension on the testing contracts of the curriculum. A three judge panel called the move by Jindal “unconstitutional interference.” Parents and educators sued, and the testing still took place this past spring. Jindal says he will appeal.
