The House Ways and Means Committee meets today to discuss matters including eliminating the state income tax. Mandeville Republican Rep. Richard Nelson passed a resolution in the last session resulting in the meeting. He feels our tax structure is broken and crafting a new system won’t be easy, but can be done:

A recent Washington Post analysis ranks Louisiana 17th in the nation in retention of college graduates. The governor’s communications director Lauren Leist says the state has created nearly 200-thousand jobs since the worst of the pandemic and many people filling those jobs are recent college grads. She says the governor will continue to diversify the economy in order to prevent the brain drain…:

The Caddo Parish Sherriff’s Office says a substitute PE teacher has been arrested for allegedly encouraging students to commit battery and bully a classmate. They say it happened at North Caddo Elementary when 24-year-old Aadrina Smith is reported to have offered to pay 5 different students 5 dollars to tackle their classmate, then sat back and watched while it happened. Smith is booked on five counts of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles and malfeasance in office.
