DCFS has recently faced criticism over issues taking place within its child welfare division, and a Senate Committee is meeting this morning to discuss what’s going on. Health and Welfare Chairman Senator Fred Mills says they’ll also review personnel to see if Secretary Marketa Garner Walters’ statements of staffing shortages are a contributing factor.

State Police say they are investigating an officer involved shooting in which a Houma cop reportedly shot one subject overnight. They say that individual was transported to a hospital with injuries. Investigators say no law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident and this is an active investigation.
