Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier have been battling for the role as the starter and Kelly said it was a close competition and he made his decision within the last 48 hours.

We are now just six days away from the season opener. Cornerback Jarrick Bernard-Converse transferred in from Oklahoma State and the Shreveport native says he can’t wait to wear the Purple and Gold in New Orleans….

Florida State kicked off its season on Saturday as the Seminoles easily defeated Duquense 47-7. F-S-U rushed for 406 yards.

Tomorrow is cut down day in the NFL as the Saints and every other NFL team need to get their roster down to 53 by three o’ clock tomorrow. Coach Dennis Allen believes after the cuts are made, he’ll have a very solid group…

It looks like rookie offensive tackle Trevor Penning is headed for injured reserve. Allen said today that Penning has a significant toe injury. It’s been reported Penning tore a ligament in his toe in Friday night’s preseason finale.

ULM’s Seth Hall has been named the school’s interim athletic director. The 34-year-old is a West Monroe native and is a former member of the ULM cross country and track and field teams. He’s been the university’s chief strategy officer.
