A tubing accident on the Amite has led to the drowning of an Opelousas man. Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard reports 32 year-old Ketni Thomas was trying to swim upstream to help some other tubers who were in trouble. Witnesses say it appeared Thomas became exhausted and sank.

Over 110 people at the Colfax Mudfest Recreational Park found themselves trapped after a temporary levee gave way over tyhe weekend, allowing water from the swollen Red River to flow in. Grant Parish Sheriff Steven McCain says they were able to get dozens of vehicles on a high hill, which is now completely surrounded by water. Two people have been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident in St. Mary Parish that happened in March. Forty-six year-old Brian Timpken of New Iberia was the first driver to allegedly hit 33 year-old Kista Sedotal of Jeanerette on Highway 182. Sometime later, they believe 25 year-old Kayla Norris hit Sedotal, and she turned around…
