The state Department of Health reports almost 3000 new cases of COVID-19, with 735 people in hospitals with symptoms. LDH also reports another three COVID-related deaths.

 

A 15-year-old girl died last night in a single vehicle crash in St. James Parish. State Police Trooper Ross Brennan says a 17-year-old was behind the wheel on LA Highway 18 when he lost control left the roadway and rolled over. The driver and his two juvenile passengers were not buckled up and were ejected from the Honda. 15-year-old Ramiya Sowell of St. James was killed. Brenan says seat belts might have saved her life…:

The state is updating its Strategic Highway Safety Plan after nearly one-thousand people were killed in crashes in 2021. That’s a 17-percent increase from the previous year. Governor John Bel Edwards says distracted driving accounts for a lot of those crashes. He says don’t let your phone distract you…:
