UL Lafayette was a three-seed in the Houston Regional and they’ll face one of the top teams in the country with a trip to Omaha for the College World Series on the line. Game one of the best of three series is Saturday night at seven.

LSU Junior Shortstop Alex Bregman has been named one of four finalists for the 2015 Golden Spikes Award. The award is presented annually to the nation’s top amateur baseball player. The other finalists are Andrew Benintendi of Arkansas and Vanderbilt’s Carson Fulmer and Dansby Swanson. Fans can cast their vote at GoldenSpikesAward-dot-com through June 12th and the winner will be announced on the 23rd.

Defensive end Cam Jordan has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the Saints through the 2020 season. The new five-year contract will pay Jordan 60 million dollars with just over half of that money guaranteed. NFL analyst Mike Detillier says this was a smart move on behalf of the Black & Gold…

Jordan had 12.5 sacks in 2013, but last season his sack total dipped to seven and a half.

Former LSU quarterback Bert Jones is on the ballot to be inducted into the 2016 College Football Hall of Fame. Jones led the SEC in passing as a junior and as a senior he helped the Tigers win the Southeastern Conference title in 1970. Former Louisiana Tech football coach and athletic director Maxie Lambright is also on the ballot. Lambright coached the Bulldogs from 1967-78, leading Tech to three consecutive Division Two national titles. There are eight players on the ballot who played professional football with the New Orleans Saints, including kicker Morten Andersen.
