UL Lafayette defeated Rice five to two in Houston. The Most Oustanding Player in the Regional, Evan Powell had a two run single in the fifth inning.

Louisiana Tech will have at least seven football games broadcast on national television this fall. Fox Sports One will televise the games against Western Kentucky and Rice.

The 40th playing of the Independence Bowl has been scheduled for Saturday December 26th at 4:45 PM. An ESPN Network will televise the contest. The Indy Bowl is still trying to nail down a title sponsor for the game, after Duck Commander ended its deal with the bowl game.
