In a bizarre incident, Baton Rouge Police report a man wielding an axe went after a police officer then stole his cop car. Spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely says they got a report that 41-year-old Deandre Trahan walking around and attempting to burglarize homes. He says after an officer located Trahan who then attacked him while the axe…:

He says once Trahan was located he was tazed several times then booked with armed robbery and criminal damage to property with further charges pending. The officer has been released from the hospital.

Governor Bobby Jindal says if the medical marijuana bill that is moving through the legislature right now by New Iberia Senator Fred Mills makes it to his desk, he will sign it. Jindal the proposal met the criteria that marijuana distribution be for a legitimate medical purpose.
