The National Weather Service says the tornado that tore through the town of Arabi in St. Bernard Parish last night was at least an EF-3. Jeff Palermo reports one person was killed in the disaster…:

We now know a bit more about that F-16 that crashed in Beauregard Parish this morning. The fighter jet was part of the Oklahoma Air National Guard and was en route from Houston back to Oklahoma. The pilot ejected safely & no one on the ground was hurt.

Door-to-door canvassing for persons in need of medical aid continues today. Governor Edwards has declared a state of emergency for St. Bernard, Orleans, Jefferson and St. Tammany parishes to help free up resources to help in recovery.

Teachers in Webster Parish are offered a chance to bring home some extra money, by getting behind the wheel of a parish school bus. Full time educators willing to double as bus drivers, will get the driver pay plus all applicable benefits in addition to their teachers’ compensation. At least two Webster teachers are already doing it.
