English did not identify the coach but says he has since been hired back at LSU.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara faces a felony battery charge after he allegedly injured someone at a Las Vegas nightclub early Saturday morning. Kamara was arrested Sunday and released on a five-thousand-dollar bond. Video surveillance shows Kamara punching a man approximately eight times before others with Kamara stomping on the individual several more times while he was on the ground. The alleged victim was knocked unconscious and sustained an orbital eye fracture among other injuries. Neither Kamara nor the Saints have made comment.

In other Saints news, the search for a head coach may be coming to an end. Sunday, Kansas City offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy became the sixth candidate to interview for the job. Reports say the Saints hope to name a coach this week, possibly as early as tomorrow.

The LSU football program has added another talented player through the transfer portal in former South Carolina linebacker Kolbe Fields. Fields spent his prep career at Rummel High in Metairie and played in four games for the Gamecocks as a freshman. He brings the number of transfers in the 2022 recruiting class to 13, with 15 freshmen.

Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram has been named the NBA’s Western Conference player of the week for games played between Jan. 31 and Feb. 6. Over three games, Ingram averaged 27 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds, nearly two steals, and 1.3 blocks in leading the Pels to a 3-0 record. After yesterday’s victory over the rockets Coach Willie Green talked about what makes Ingram so special.
