During the 2021 legislative session, lawmakers created a 90-million dollar grant program that would allow parishes to partner with private companies to improve broadband in their areas. Avoyelles Representative Daryl Deshotel authored the legislation and says they’ve received applications from 58 parishes and this March the awards will be announced. Deshotel says this is one of the largest economic development opportunities in Louisiana history…
