A Covington man is in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison after he allegedly impersonated an officer when he confronted a 17-year-old girl who he also sexually assaulted. 53-year-old Jason Miller faces several charges including two counts of first-degree rape. East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s office spokesperson Casey Hicks says they are asking for the public’s help to see if Miller has committed similar acts…

A former prosecutor in Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry’s office has filed a lawsuit against his former employer claiming a suspect in a child porn investigation received preferential treatment because he was politically connected. Matthew Derbes resigned in April and filed the lawsuit last week. Landry denies they gave the suspect any special treatment and blames the COVID pandemic on not arresting him sooner.
