A man is dead and three other men and a 14-year-old are hospitalized after an ambush-style shooting Tuesday night in front of a grocery store in St. Charles Parish. Sheriff Greg Champagne says the gunfire occurred in Killona and the number of shooters is unknown and so is the motive.

All of the victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The man killed is identified as 29-year-old Darzil Washington.

53-year-old Jason Miller of Covington is accused of raping a teen and impersonating a police officer. East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Casey Hicks says the victim was walking in the Gardere area Sunday afternoon when Miller allegedly approached her, flashed a badge, and began questioning her.

Hicks says good detective work led to Miller’s arrest two days later.

The governor’s office made two economic development announcements yesterday. S-and-W Wholesale Foods plans to build a 12-million dollar distribution center, culinary test kitchen and training facility near Hammond. And Information technology firm, Rural Sourcing, will establish a 150-job software development center in downtown Baton Rouge.
