Baton Rouge Police confirmed that a paternity test shows that former LSU offensive lineman La’el Collins is not the father of murder victim Brittney Mills’ son. Authorites say Collins is still not considered a suspect in Mills’ death after meeting with police Monday. It’s reported that Collins will meet soon with the Dallas Cowboys.

There’s been reports the Pelicans will hire former McNeese State star and Detroit Piston Joe Dumars. Dumars is a former team president of the Pistons and built a roster that won an NBA championship in 2004. Southern University’s Santos Saldivar struck out thirteen as the Jaguars rolled past Southeastern Louisiana 5-1. Saldivar set a team single season record with 104 strikeouts on the season. Southern wraps up their season with an exhibition game Saturday night at Lee Hines Field. Southeastern must turn around and host Central Arkansas in a three game Southland Conference that begins tomorrow night.

Nicholls State bested Alabama A&M 4-3. Junior Marc Frazier earned the win for the Colonels while senior Stuart Holmes picked up his 15th save on the season, a new school record. Nicholls and UNO will play a three game series this weekend with game one in Thibodaux Friday night.

Louisiana Tech would like to see the Conference USA men’s and women’s basketball tournament at the Century Tel Center in Shreveport-Bossier City. They plan to present a bid at next week’s league meetings in Florida.

LSU basketball is reportedly trying to secure a home-and-home series with Memphis. The first game between the two schools will be next season in Baton Rouge.
