The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office says a pilot is dead after a crop duster crash between Basile and Eunice yesterday. Authorities say 32-year-old Jed Toups of Basile crashed his plane after he clipped a few trees and then crashed into a tree. Toups is survived by his three children and his wife, who is pregnant with their fourth child. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is being turned over to the FAA.
