State roads and bridges in need of repair got the attentions of The House Ways and Means Committee, as they approved two proposed tax increases by Plaquemine Representative Karen St. Germain to help fund improvements. HB 777 was ammended to have a ten cent increase of the tax for a gallon and gas, while HB 778 would increase the state sales tax by one percent.
