Lafayette Police warn of a phone scam making the rounds. Callers will SAY they are with the local police or sheriff’s office; claiming to have a warrant for your arrest. But, they will take money to resolve the matter. The first red flag is them asking for money. The second is them asking for non-traceable forms of money, like store gift cards. Just hang up.

 

AARP has a new website tool up and running that is there to assist veterans access health care in the state.  Troy Broussard with AARP-Louisiana says of the more than 300 thousand vets in the state only a fraction have used their VA health care benefits. He says the VetsHealthNavigator contains a significant amount of detailed information about benefits available to nearly 60 percent of all veterans…:

Police in Sulphur are investigating a crash that caused the death of a 7-year-old girl over the weekend. The accident happened on U.S. 90 on Saturday. Police say the child was not properly restrained in the back seat. Three others in the car were treated for minor injuries.

New Orleans Police are investigating a shooting this morning ON Interstate-10 near the Superdome that left two people – a man and a woman – seriously hurt. So far no motive, nor suspects in the crime.
