The LSU Tigers were pushed around in a 38-27 season-opening loss to the UCLA Bruins in Pasadena on Saturday night. UCLA had 470 yards of total offense as they hit on several big plays, while LSU never established a running game, rushing for just 49 yards. LSU will have an opportunity to get better this Saturday as they host McNeese for the home opener. The Cowboys are coming off a loss to West Florida. McNeese’s quarterback Cody Orgeron, Ed Orgeron’s son.

The 23rd ranked Ragin Cajuns were unable to pull off the upset in Austin as U-L Lafayette fell to the 19th ranked Texas Longhorns 38-18. Even though the Cajuns had more first downs than Texas, the Longhorns were better on third down and U-L Lafayette could not get a ground game going. Cajuns coach Billy Napier says they did some good things, but there were some opportunities they missed

The Ragin Cajuns host Nicholls for its home opener this Saturday. The Colonels lost to Memphis on Saturday and it will be another difficult week of preparation for Nicholls as power is scarce in Lafourche Parish.
