Tonight is the first round of the NFL draft and there are two players from LSU that could hear their name called, but both are dealing with off the field issues. One is offensive tackle La’el Collins, who Baton Rouge police want to question about the murder of a pregnant woman. NFL Draft analyst Mike Detillier still believes Collins is a sure fire first rounder…

Cornerback Jalen Collins, no relation to La’el, also has a chance to be selected in the first round, but it’s been reported Jalen failed multiple drug tests at LSU.

The Saints have a total of nine draft picks, including two in the first round. General Manager Mickey Loomis says its unrealistic to think that all nine players they will select, will be future starters…

The NFL Draft concludes Saturday.

Louisiana Tech scored seven runs in the sixth inning to propel the Bulldogs to an 11-3 win over Stephen F. Austin last night at JC Love Field. Tech improves to 21-21 and have now won 11 consecutive non-conference contests. The Bulldogs host Texas – San Antonio this weekend.

Nicholls State erupted for seven runs in the fourth and added another five in the eighth on their way to a 16-6 win over ULM. The contest was a slugfest with both teams combining for 29 base hits on the night. The Colonels hope to keep the momentum going as they host Houston Baptist in a weekend Southland Conference matchup. The Warhawks welcome the Trojans of Troy this weekend to Monroe.

Senior Connor Lloyd went 4-for-5 at the plate and tallied 5 RBIs as McNeese State pounded Southern 13-5. Next up for the Cowboys, a three game weekend series against Stephen F. Austin at Cowboy Diamond. Southern hits the road to play arch rival Grambling.

And UL-Lafayette doubled up UNO 6-3. The Ragin Cajuns are on the road to face Appalachian State this weekend. The Privateers host Abilene Christian.
