The Lafayette Council Chairman is working with local Grammy award winning zydeco musician Chubby Carrier are teaming up in support of an ordinance to ban smoking in bars and clubs. Council chair Kenneth Boudreaux says the goal is to protect musicians and servers from second hand smoke. The New Orleans ban goes into effect tonight at midnight.

A Walker man has been arrested for the Sunday night attack and rape of a woman in a Livingston Parish laundromat. Forty-year-old Lionel Myles of Walker was arrested and charged with aggravated rape, aggravated assault, battery, and armed robbery. Captain John Sharp says crimes like this are rare in Walker, so when it occurs, they take it very seriously…
