The LSU Baseball team left today for Oregon where they’ll compete this weekend in the Eugene Regional. Gonzaga, Oregon and Central Connecticut State are the other three teams in that Regional. Seth Thibodaux’s eleven-year run as head coach of the Nicholls Baseball team is over. The Colonels athletics program says Thibodaux has resigned after failing to make the Southland Conference Tournament for the second consecutive year. Thibodaux was 287 and 290 as head coach of Nicholls.

McNeese has won ten of its last 12 heading into Friday’s Regional game against T-C-U on Friday night in Fort Worth, Texas. The Cowboys feature the Southland Pitcher of the Year Will Dion, who has an era of 2.81. Pokes Head Coach Justin Hill says he’s yet to decide if Dion will pitch against the Horned Frogs after pitching twice last week in the Southland Tournament…

This is McNeese’s sixth overall NCAA postseason appearance and fourth since 2000.

The Washington Post reports that former LSU running back Derrius Guice is nearing a possible settlement that could result in police dropping assault charges against him. Guice was arrested last August in Virginia and he was charged with strangulation and three counts of assault and battery. The Washington Football Team cut Guice shortly after the arrest.
