The LSU baseball team needs to win today or its stay at the SEC Tournament will be short. The Tigers will face Georgia in an elimination game this afternoon, the winner advances into the double-elimination portion of the bracket. Coach Paul Mainieri will send his staff ace to the mound, Landon Marceaux, and closer Devin Fontenot is ready to pitch multiple innings

Marceaux says he is 100-percent after only pitching four innings last Thursday because he didn’t feel well. First pitch is at 4:30.

At 3:00, Tulane opens play in the American Athletic Conference Tournament by facing Houston in Clearwater, Florida. The Green Wave is the two seed, but they’ve lost four in a row.

ULM opens play in the Sun Belt Conference Championship with a game against Georgia State at 4 PM in Montgomery, Alabama. The Warhawks will then play Georgia Southern on Friday.

Saints Coach Sean Payton says 87-percent of the players on the roster are participating in the team’s voluntary offseason program at their football practice facility in Metairie. Payton says they are not on the field, instead they are using that time in the weight room and conditioning. One guy that’s definitely not there is Drew Brees, who announced his retirement in March. General Manager Mickey Loomis says it’s noticeable not to have number nine around anymore…

Former LSU Quarterback TJ Finley is continuing his college career at Auburn. Finley, who started five games last season for the Tigers, will remain a Tiger, but he’ll play for the Tigers on the Plains and compete with two-year starter Bo Nix for starting quarterback duties.
