Earlier this season, LSU defeated Louisiana Tech 16-7, last night the Fighting Tigers topped the 14th ranked Bulldogs 16-8 in a game halted in the seventh inning, because of lighting. Freshman first baseman Tre Morgan continues to swing a hot bat as he went four for five with 2 runs driven in. Zach Arnold was three for four with 4 RBI. Tech jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Greg Martinez and Kyle Griffen combined to give up seven runs. Taylor Young had two hits and drove in two runs in a losing effort.

The Ragin Cajuns game against Southern was halted after a half-inning of play because of lighting in Lafayette. U-L will now get ready for a big Sun Belt Series against U-T-A. The Mavericks lead the West division with an 11-and-7, while the Cajuns are two games back at 9-and-9. That series will begin Friday in Arlington.

The Pelicans host the Mavericks at 8 PM tonight. If New Orleans losses, they are eliminated from appearing in the play-in tournament. A San Antonio win over the Nets tonight in Brooklyn will also end the Pels chances.

Tonight at 7 PM the NFL schedule will come out. When will the Saints play the defending Super Bowl champion Buccaneers, who they lost to in the playoffs? Also, will New Orleans still appear in a lot of primetime games, even though Drew Brees is retired?

LSU All-American cornerback Derek Stingley Junior will wear the number seven jersey for the Tigers in the 2021 season. Stingley has been wearing number 24. The number seven jersey goes to the team’s top playmaker.

Sports betting legislation at the State Capitol is advancing. The Louisiana House has approved a bill that would allow sports betting to take place at bars and restaurants that serve alcohol. There would be kiosks at those sites to place bets. A Senate committee has also approved a bill that would allow sports betting parlors at the state’s casinos and race tracks.
